Panelist

Marc Pollick,

Founder and President, The Giving Back Fund.

Marc Pollick Holocaust scholar founded The Giving Back Fund (GBF) based on his experiences working with Elie Wiesel, novelist, Holocaust survivor, and winner of the 1986 Nobel Peace Prize. Pollick was founding director of the Elie Wiesel Institute for Humanitarian Studies.

Working with Wiesel, Pollick came to appreciate the unique power and opportunity inherent in leveraging celebrity and wealth on behalf of philanthropy.  While GBF has concentrated much of its efforts on this powerful combination, GBF’s services are available to anyone with a sincere and passionate interest in giving back.

Pollick was recently recognized for his achievements as a recipient of the 2004
University of Chicago Alumni Award for Public Service and is a frequent lecturer and writer.

The Giving Back Fund (GBF) is a national nonprofit organization with offices in Boston and Los Angeles. Our strategic philanthropic consulting and advisory services are designed to nurture the interests of a new group of potential donors, thereby increasing and diversifying the philanthropic community. Since our
founding in 1997, GBF has created a unique niche in encouraging and facilitating this new philanthropy, particularly among young people, women and people of color. Donors with whom GBF has worked include Doug Flutie, Jalen Rose, Elton Brand, Nancy Kerrigan, Britney Spears, Coach John Thompson, Justin Timberlake, among many others.

In its first five years, GBF has overseen the direct distribution of more than $9.2 million in grants to a large variety of important causes and programs, and additionally, through the high profile role modeling of our donors, has inspired the contributions of countless millions more.
